About the Author of NLP Secrets

Pete CasaleMy name is Pete Casale, author of NLP Secrets, and I am not a registered psychotherapist or psychologist. Nor am I self-styled NLP "guru". There is no piece of paper that says you should listen to me. I am just a normal guy, like you, unless you are a female in which case I'm just like you except for that Y chromosome. Perhaps I am a bit more arrogant than most people, for which I humbly apologise. But other than that, I'm the same as you - and every human - I'm driven to understand how things work, and I consider mastering knowledge of the human mind to be a major advantage.

NLP Secrets is written for people like myself, who are interested in NLP and the potential of the human mind, but having trouble finding good, concise resources out there. This is no "guide for dummies" - this is exactly the kind of website I would have wanted when I first started researching NLP.

A full list of fields used in cross-reference for all material on this website:

  • Neuro-linguistic programming
  • Cognitive, Biological, Social and Bevioural Psychology
  • Basic Sociology and Anthropology
  • Body language and microexpressions in relation to emotions
  • Neuroscience (study of the nervous system)
  • Psychoneuroimmunology (what a word! The technical name for the study of the interaction of consciouness and physically intentifiable nervous system. A very interesting subject!)
  • Hypnosis and hypnotherapy (not technically a science, but then, nor is NLP!)

What makes me a good author for NLP Secrets?

There are so many babbling idiots out there, especially in the free-for-all wilderness that is the internet. What annoys me the most is when people garble myriad uninformed, theoretical "NLP techniques" that haven't even been tested.

I can't tell you the number of times I've discovered a new NLP technique that sounds too good to be true. I get excited, and I start researching it to find out how it works - only to discover there is no scientific backup. I consider myself pretty good at finding stuff out, and when I can't find a single trace of evidence to backup someone's NLP technique I start getting a bit wary. So I try to figure out the science behind it myself, and that's when I realise - it's just another babbling idiot, making things up.

This website is for critical thinkers, and people who don't want to hack and slash through all the padding and marketing, and get straight to the real NLP that really works.

If a technique has no scientific basis, or no noticible effect better than that of a placebo or psychosomatics, then we are not interested.

That is my guideline at NLP-secrets.com. I hope you agree that it's best :)

Why did I start NLP-secrets.com?

I started NLP-secrets.com for a few reasons, mostly because I wanted to start an information / affiliate website and NLP is very intesting to me. Since I was nine years old, I've been consciously and actively trying to work out what makes people do the things they do. I use NLP techniques every day and I have found them to be most useful. Other reasons that I started this website include:

  • To make an affiliate website to provide myself with some passive income
  • By making this website, I can develop my own knowledge of NLP
  • I wanted to form a well-written source of information
  • I enjoy writing and explaining things

More about Pete Casale (me!)

I live in Auckland, in the South Pacific country of New Zealand, with my partner Rebecca who runs the illustrated website Science Me. We live in a cosy house with our two dogs, Howard Woofington-Moon and his brother Piper Woofington-Moon.

My hobbies include anything to do with our dogs, coaching and training mixed martial arts, teaching the art of ITF Taekwon-Do (I'm a 2nd degree black belt) and eating - I really like eating, almost as much as our dogs do.

I am not religious, and I don't consider myself spiritual. I have ten fingers, ten toes and the normal number of limbs. For those few of you still reading, I appreciate the interest but I'm itching to write some more NLP-related articles so I'll call it a day here.
